Soothing: Used in the mouth or on skin it can be locally soothing. As a tranquilizer it does not do much. You might like it as a flavoring herb in food. If you need help with anxiety, work with your therapist.

Yes, nasally: Mainly it can effect the nasal passage as an irritant and cause a rhinitis and/or inflammatory reaction. Not recommended to "snort" anything.

Used for smudging: Not smoking. No benefits otherwise. It's not illegal to smudge, and probably not good for your lungs to smoke. It's been said that it's a native american tradition to smudge areas of your home that you want to clear the stagnant energy. Save your lungs for now.

Don't smoke sage??: The essence of drug abuse/dependency is continuing to use a drug, for whatever purpose, where the negative aspects outweigh whatever good they may be doing. Most people who find that this happens STOP using the substance. Those who can't are the ones I end up treating, or end up with health issues up to an including death, for their substance use disorders. This is true of sage as it is for heroin

Several: Orally, sage (salvia officinalis) extract can be used for loss of appetite, digestive complaints, hot flashes, dysmenorrhea, and also possibly memory enhancement in alzheimer's disease.  Some research supports this last one:  http://www.Ncbi.Nlm.Nih.Gov/pubmed/12605619?Dopt=abstract   topically, sage can help various inflammations: herpes labialis, pharyngitis, stomatitis, gingivitis, etc.

why should i not combine sage tablets with tamoxifen?

Accepted Answer

Unclear: There is very little hard data about sage extract.  The online advertisers say that sage is a mild estrogen type extract that helps menopausal symptoms.  I am not sure if that claim has been validated.  Tamoxifen works by blocking the body's estrogen and "starving" the tumor. If sage actually does work, then it would get in the way of tamoxifen's intended effect.

Do not waste your $: Do not waste your time with "weight loss supplements". If you want to achieve weight loss, reduce your carbs to a bare minimum, drink only water, eat lots of low starch veggies and lean meats and increase your activity levels.

Sage tea: Sage tea is usualy taken when weaning your infant. It will decrease your milk supply and its effect on the infant is not known
