HgbA1c: Hgba1c is a numeric value that determines your average glucose over a 2-3 month period of time.  The simplest way to understand hgba1c is to multiply its value x 22.  That will give you your average glucose over a 2-3 month period.  If your hgba1c is 6.0, then your average glucose is 132(6.0 x 22=132).

is an hba1c level of 5.1 good? i do not have diabetes. im curious bc pre diabetes is 5.7 and im close to that.

Hemoglobin A1c: With regard to A1c of 5.0, that result is a  normal level for the test.  The A1c result can be affected by anemia or changes in RBC (red blood cell) production, so if there are no issues with anemia or RBC production the test is valid and you are not close to being pre-diabetic. If not then you can look into checking your blood sugar before and after meals to be more certain.

Insulin: With an A1c that high you will need insulin to improve your glycemic control. Oral agents and exercise will not help.

Unlikely: If both HbA1c and fasting glucose are normal you are most likely fine.  Occasionally people are having much higher sugars AFTER they eat (measured 2 hours) and are diabetic without knowing it.  This would have been reflected in the A1c though which is why I think you're probably fine!

Diabetes: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, If you blood sugar is 12.3 mmol/L you are diabetic. If your HbA1c is 12.3 you have uncontrolled diabetes.

why am i struggling to keep my glucose levels within range? my glucose spikes even with low carb meals but my levels will also drop really bad. t1 diabetes for almost 3 years i have never struggled like this before. hba1c under 6.

Blood sugar wild: Discuss with your dr;
Is your insulin dose right. 
If taking other meds for diabetes tell them.

I'm not: Sure what your question is, but your TSH that is slightly elevated indicates your thyroid is beginning to fail. There is variable opinion on when to begin treatment with brand name T4 replacement, but almost certainly the problem will continue to worsen (and never correct itself) so why not begin the lifelong replacement now? Talk w/your doctor.

Variant hb: Abnormal hemoglobins can be a problem with diabetes management, as the Hgb A1C is not accurate.  You can try following the fructosamine (or glycated albumin), but it is not a very good test, and is often not helpful.  Better to follow fingerstick glu more carefully.
