Not question of safe: When on a diet rich in fats and you take pills to block fat absorption, you are likely to have problems controlling your bowel movements. You may find yourself in situations with the need for immediate access to a toilet and possibly even situations where you don't always make it in time.  Limit fats and increase proteins and don't take such medications. Low glycemic index better than low carb.

It depends: It depends on how much you "cheat" on your cheat day.
The important part is to think not like something you will do for a period of time and then you can stop. The changes you made to your diet have to be permanent in order to maintain the weight loss. If you are thinking about the day you are going to stop eating healthy food, you have already lost the battle.

Meat and veggies: Eat only meat or fish or cheese or eggs or poultry and low starch veggies, drink only water.   In other words avoid all carbs, carbs will only briefly raise your sugar levels and then you will get hungry again. The fats in the meat or fish or cheese or eggs or poultry will act like a "log on your metabolic fire" to keep your blood sugar stable for hours.

Slow Carb diet: It has many good features like eating foods with a low glycemic index and avoiding sugars and processed foods. It doesn't look worse than the typical american diet which is high in salt, sugar, and saturated fats.  The true test of a diet is if you can stick to it longer for 6 months.  If you can work it into your lifestyle and sustain the healthy aspects, then go for it.

Low carb diet: Best way to loose weight is to reduce carbs.  Not sure you can reduce it to zero however.
