The implant placed inside the eye is smaller in diameter than the cataract.  Thus, the effective viewing area is smaller, and the peripheral vision is reduced. Treatment reaction: This can be as simple as multiple topical drops and oral meds tothe addition of laser or intraocular surgery to decrease the pressures to a safe level. Every patient is different and the extent de4pends on medicaion reaction and other factors including risk factors. Be compliant snd keep your appoinments.

Fairly good.: Since most of your vision is conserved, your outcome, with all available to your ophthalmologist ,  should be good!  but your letter stresses the importance of examination of the eyes, more so, to prevent most glaucoma associated damage!

Not likely: In my experience, patients with glaucoma rarely notice the loss of vision until it is far advanced.  Also there is no reliable way to estimate the percentage loss of nerve.   We generally judge the extent of disease with the peripheral vision test as mild, moderate or severe.

Depends: It depends on many factors, but the general rule of thumb is that it the higher the pressure, the faster vision loss can occur.  The goal of glaucoma treatment is to lower the pressure to the point that vision loss does not progress or slows to the point that you will never go blind during your lifetime.

Probably not: Glaucoma is readily treated with anti-pressure medication which should prevent any further damage in almost all cases.  This is handled by ophthalmologists (you are not seeing an optometrist i hope?) who deal with this daily.  There is a step ladder of treatments -- medication, laser, surgery to prevent further damage which can be quite effective.

No: Aging in and of itself never causes peripheral vision loss.  If you are experiencing peripheral vision loss, you should be evaluated for glaucoma, optic nerve disease, or a possible mass or infiltrative lesion.

Location of loss: A visual field loss can occur any where in the visual field including peripheraly. We have several muscles that move the eye: superior/laterial/medial  rectus, sup/inf oblique and a few others. When you have a loss of vision looking far left or far right this is peripheral visual loss in the visual field.  When looking up/down or straight ahead this is also a visual field loss different location.
