Simple formula: Spherical equivalent=sphere+1/2(cylinder). The sphere is the first number written in a glasses prescription. The second number is the cylinder. The third number is the axis.  Keep track of your signs both positive and negative when you are adding or subtracting above. The axis plays no role in formula above. You need -1.25. Fun fact: circle of least confusion equals spherical equivalent.Google it.

Don't need contacts: The spherical equivalent is -0.25.  Most people would not wear glasses or contact lenses for this small refractive error.

Contact lens fitting: You really need to be properly fitted for contacts.  For contacts, you not only need the power, but you also need the diameter of the contact lens and a base curve. Both these two numbers describe the shape of the contact lens and you need to be evaluated to see which lens provides the best fit for your eyes. A poorly fitted contact lens may increase the risk for eye infections.

i was diagnosed with a spherical +.075 power and cylindrical -.1.90 power for both my eyes. is that very bad?

OnlyMeans NotPerfect: Focus. Values=magnification, in diopters, which examiner felt were effective to compensate focus (from what you said: clearer vs. less clear) &amp; better read characters. The Phoropter used to arrive at values=simply an arrangement of lenses (quickly changeable glasses, if you will) used, trial &amp; error, to rapidly check what worked better at time checked. Spherical=overall; cylinder+axis=astigmatism.

: Refractive error change in 8 months is not unusual. The change will slow down with age.
For healthy diet: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/., exercise 30 minutes/day, drink enough water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs.

Glasses prescription: Your overall "spherical equivalent" is -0.25 which is minimally myopic.  Your main refractive issue is your astigmatism which can be corrected by glasses or contact lens if you're symptomatic.  This is a very mild prescription so if you're not bothered by it, then you don't have to wear anything to correct this.

Not recommended: It is generally not a good idea to have surgery for a benign condition. 1-2% complication rate is too high for me for a condition that can be treated without surgery. In about 10-15 years you will still need glasses, for presbyopia, even if you have lasik now. I would not recommend it.

: It refers to the appearance of the fundus in a patient who is highly myopic.
