Proper sleep hygiene: I'm not sure what you mean by sleep pattern changes. Ideally you should follow proper sleep hygiene and set regular bed/wake times. Don't nap.

If you're a shift worker you may have shift work sleep disorder.

Sleep/Radiation: Unless you are sleeping inside of a nuclear reactor, you are getting the same amount of natural, background radiation that everyone gets. This is not the problem.The are many reasons why a person can have sleep problems. This is no one of them. Google "sleep problem" for some suggestions.

One's primary care doctor and a psychiatrist can help.

Fragmentation: New dad or parent.  Sleep pattern will become more like that of your newborn:  fragmented.  Unfortunately this leads to much lighter sleep and less restorative sleep.  The key is to try to sleep for as long of periods as can be gotten so falling asleep when child falls asleep.  Avoid exhaustion which can cause signfiicant mood disturbances and other problems.

Yes: Lots of people switch to night work. It takes a little while to adapt because circaadian rhythm is normally related to the night/day cycle.
