Accepted Answer

Should not: The material used for bone scan is different than IV contrast for CT. I am unaware of anyone having a reaction for this reason.

Accepted Answer

Yes: The oral contrast shows the intestines on X ray and the injectable contrast shows the vessel system on X ray.

Accepted Answer

It may: But at young age, good hydration, and some separation if timing of cts the risk is limited.
Diabetes, some medications, preexisting renal disorders are known risks.

Warm flush: Warm flush lasting a few seconds. Allergies may cause more severe reactions, but, can usually be treated with medication.

Iodine sensitivity: Yes it is possible.  If you every think you do have a reaction, you should report it immediately and not get the iodine dye again.

Are you sure.: If radio active iodine is used   it is  i-131 which has half life of less than 9days,  then calculate every 9 days half of it will be eliminated in the body with i -131.    Not bad if we did not synthesize  i- 131  imagine if it is  i- 129 which had half life of  15.7 million years.

Probably not: I like to keep an open mind but there is no scientific evidence that contrast used for CT can be used to treat disease.

If you are feeling better after a CT exam, it is likely that you were on your way to getting better before the scan and the improvement continued after the scan to a point that you then noticed it.

or Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and Prednisone prioir to the procedure if absolutely necessary.

No issues : Assuming you had no issues with he scan or immediately after, it should be fine. No known interaction of Iodinated contrast with alcohol.

what percent of thyroid patients, develop iodine contrast-induced thyroid dysfunction? for example, i have diffusely enlarged thyroid/thyroiditis, but i am not being treated with medicine, what are my odds of having problems from iodine contrast?

: The incidence depends on the underlying abnormality with your thyroid (is it just a goiter that is not active? ie, a euthyroid goiter? or is it hyperactive still?  if so, this portends to higher risk of dysfunction. Number needed to harm: 23 for inciting hyperthyroidism. Pts with euthyroid goiter have almost 5x higher risk of ICM-induced TD than patients without thyroid nodules.
