Weak neck: In pediatrics, this usually means that the child's neck muscles aren't strong/developed enough to give the child good control of their head (unable to hold the head up when supported in a sitting position, for example)

my baby is 4 months. can she start using a walker/bouncer? she has good head control and can sit supported.

Accepted Answer

When able to sit up: Walkers and jumpers do not help a baby learn to walk. Walkers and jumpers are ok to use under adult supervision, and for less than 30-60 minutes at one time. They are not for keeping a toddler in, without supervision. Dangers include crashing into furniture corners, flipping over, falling down stairs, and sliding through the seat (possibly getting tangled up and possibly getting choked).

my 5mo has started holding his head back when we pick him up from laying. he has great head control and has never done this before, is it a new skill? he also looks at the ceiling a lot when being held now. should be concerned he just started that?

: By 3 months of age, most infants born at term achieve steady head control.  Could be a delay in gross motor skill.  Certainly needs to be brought up on infant's next well child visit.

Yes: Infants with poor head control and spasticity due to cerebral palsy can later develop head control.  Older children (>3 yrs) are unlikely to do so.

Yes: Ankle clonus is normal in infants with their immature nervous system and may be seen up to about 1 year of age.

Sx's: This can't be diagnosed with the information that is available. A history, physical examination &amp; other studies may be needed to determine cause/causes. 
Once accurately assessed a treatment plan can be developed.

Tremors: You are describing a neurologic problem. The specialists called neurologists work with patients in this area to improve on these findings.

Hard to be sure: Coughing is a basic reflex that is triggered to remove irritants/mucus/debris from the lungs. It can often be set off after what may be a minor exposure to inhaled fumes, spit that goes down the wrong pipe, etc. It may also be part of an illness or asthma. Only you know what your potential triggers have been. If it persists you need to see your doc.
