Hard to be sure: Coughing is a basic reflex that is triggered to remove irritants/mucus/debris from the lungs. It can often be set off after what may be a minor exposure to inhaled fumes, spit that goes down the wrong pipe, etc. It may also be part of an illness or asthma. Only you know what your potential triggers have been. If it persists you need to see your doc.
