These hormones include estrogen and androgens, and can have several transient side effects. Real, mature breast tissue forms, creating firm lumps under the nipples. Some babies even leak some real milk from their breasts.

am 34, baby 6mths ago. mirena (levonorgestrel) 3mth ago. noticed occasional clear discharge from nipple, mainly when squeezed quite hard. no lumps or pain. is this bad?

Milk: If you had a baby 6 months ago and are now able to see fluid from the nipple the most likely explanation is milk. After having a baby it quite normal to express milk from the nipple even if not breastfeeding. This is especially true if you are squeezing the nipple. If you are concerned  schedule a visit for confirmation

Can be: Yes, babies can get breast lumps, due to lingering effects of  maternal hormones.  Ii is not a problem and will resolve, unless it gets red, or hot, or the baby has a fever or acts differently.  It may have been smaller at birth and gradually enlarged until noticeable. Newborn Developmentl: Newborns may normally develop swelling around the nipples from a swollen gland. Baby’s One Month examination will allow medical provider to assess for normal development or not . If baby is fussy and has pain in the area or fever, call baby’s medical provider.

Sometimes.: Medications, hormonal imbalances, substance abuse all can affect the breast tissue.  If both breasts equally affected, unlikely to be tumor.  If new and persistent, would encourage MD visit.

Different options: The breast has a lot of things in it both in the skin and below it.  Sweat/oil glands, hair follicles and skin cysts as well as lymph nodes, fatty tissue, breast tissue and other things. Is the lump growing, inflamed, painful, painless, draining, recurrent or constant, moveable or fixed...?  Each of these (and many more) will provide your doc the answers as to what it is and what needs to be done.

Depends On Lumps?: It depends on what you are meaning by lumps.  There are glands beneath the nipples that can become enlarged.  They may come and go.  Men can also have breast enlargement, called gynecomastia.  This is more a general enlargement.  Men can also get breast cancer.  If the lump is there longer than a month or is growing, see your doctor.

Yes: All women and most men have little lumps on the areola around the nipple papilla itself.  They're called montgomery's glands.  During nursing, they produce a waxy substance like chap-stick that keeps baby's lips from chapping.

See your Dr: A few different things could cause this like intraductal papillomas or mastitis, even normal changes in ones cycle can cause pain and breast congestion. Sounds like you should see your doctor for an exam. If they think something might be going on, they may order a breast ultrasound. You are young so a benign process (not cancer)is more likely. Still it should be checked out.

Are they tiny: White bumps on the nipple and areola? They may be montgomery glands - if that is the case- they are normal.
