It is approved only for type 2 diabetes but also has been shown to be very helpful in type 1. It stimulates insulin release in response to high BG; it suppresses glucagon (VERY beneficial); it tells your brain you're full, so you don't eat as much; and it slows absorption of food from gut

Food movement: It decreases food movement thru the intestinal tract, thereby constipation is a possible side effect. This drug also causes diarrhea in some patients.

Depends : Many people may experience full effect of victoza 2-3 weeks after continued use. However, if the dose is too low or if your blood sugars remain elevated despite its continued use, a change in dose or in medication regimen may be warranted. Would recommend you consult with your doctor if blood sugars are not well controlled after taking the medication.

Not studied: Hi. That hasn't been studied (or at least I haven't seen any data). So no one can say. Tolerability is an unfortunate issue with liraglutide, which is an outstanding drug. If you tolerate 0.6 mg twice daily better than 1.2 once daily, I'd say go for the 0.6 mg twice daily. Either that, or do 0.9 mg (5 clicks up from 0.6 mg) once daily, and do a SLOW upward titration. Adjust dose: The dose of victoza (liraglutide) should be slowly increased from the starting dose as tolerated (1.2 up to 1.8 mg/day). It starts working the first dose and is maximally effective in less than a week.

Up titration: Hi. With the standard up titration of the Victoza (liraglutide) dose, you'll be at max dose (1.8 mg/day) at the beginning of the 3rd week...later if you do a slower titration. Once you're stably at the 1.8 mg dose, the effect is very rapid. However, due to progressive and ongoing weigh loss, "peak" effect may occur further down the road. Eat healthily and exercise regularly! Good luck, and be well controlled!

Yes.: It is an effective med with a good safety profile. It can be part of a regimen for diabetes.  It is not fda approved for other uses, but probably produces weight loss and normalization of bg in those with pre diabetes as well.
