This together with low protein levels in the blood due to liver disease causes fluid to seep outside the vessels and into the abdominal cavity.

A Shunt may help: Ascites can be drained into the venous system with the help of a peritoneal-Subclavian shunt, which is better way to manage this problem than draining it outside via suction catheter. Ask you oncologist to consult a Surgical Oncologist who is familiar with this procedure what has been available for many years.

MGT: I would recommend that our GI specialist tap the fluid and then test for TB, bacterial causes.
The fluid should be analyzed for total protein levels.
In the meantime, please discontinue alcohol and smoking. If there are any respiratory symptoms, a chest image should  be obtained.

Keep seeking answers: There are other causes for ascites, or fluid in the abdominal cavity, besides liver disease.  There are also other causes for liver disease besides alcohol use.  You should definitely go back to your doctor and might need more tests to find out what's causing your abdominal pain. Possibly: Ascites is common in liver disease, happens sometimes in congestive heart failure. It can happen with a large tumor burden in the abdomen, but not always. You should review this finding with your doctor.

It is caused by tumo: Your tumor causes ascites. This is common in most abdominal cancers as fluid leaks out of the cancerous tumors.. Only an effective anticancer treatment can slow it down.
