Displaced disc?: Sounds like you may be developing a "closed lock" of the tmj, due to a displaced disc. This can be best seen on an mri. Sometimes this will respond to conservative treatment including medication or possibly splint therapy. However, the highest success rates in relieving pain and restoring normal function have been achieved with TMJ arthroscopy, where a small scope is introduced into the joint.....

what defines the cramping/lockjaw sensation caused by tetanus? i have a jaw and neck ache, but no difficulty opening mouth. last tetanus shot was 2001. did some soil gardening 8 days ago but no cuts.

Not Lockjaw: Yeah, tetanus requires some kind of wound inoculating the skin with bacteria. But you may have a temporomandibular joint dysfunction syndrome.  If this continues, please see a TMJ specialist dentist for some diagnosis and help.

You?: If you are talking about yourself, you are somewhat young for oral cancer BUT you should do 2 things: first, please visit a dentist or your local doc.  Cancer is rare at your age but not impossible.  Second: please quit using any and all tobacco products.  You are setting yourself to develop all sorts of tobacco related cancers plus bad tooth and gum disease.  Please do it ASAP.

Very odd: Pain in one ear and both hands is non-physiologic and two things must be going on.  In addition, we do not know if the pain elicited by mouth opening is on one or both sides. Nor do we know how long these problems have been going on.  Therefore any medical analysis of this problem is kerput.

Common complication: The most common complication after wisdom tooth extraction is trismus, or tightness in the jaw muscles.  .  This tightness can last several days to two weeks.  Three things will help loosen up the jaw muscles as quickly as possible: heat, stretching, and massage.

: If she can't open her mouth due to pain and stiffness and she can do it after taking a pain pill, you should not concern much. If she does not have any pain but not able to open her mouth due to stiffness, she should try her best to open her mouth against the stiffness with massaging the TMJs at the same time. As long as she is able to eat and drink she will be fine sooner or later.

TMJ vs other problem: Might be TMJ but your symptoms are vague enough that I think an evaluation by a ENT doc is warranted. If negative, see TMJ specialist. Any dentist can be a TMJ expert with the proper training and experience. Most commonly, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and orofacial pain specialists. Ask your MD, your dentist and your dental society for referrals.

Hard to say: Could be a viral or bacterial pharyngitis. See your MD to help with diagnosis/treatment.

Hard to diagnose: Hard to diagnose on this forum.  This could be some type of TMJ problem due to your occlusion or some sort of trauma. You don't clarify whether you are using the ulcer gel for an ulcer or for the chewing problem. As i mentioned above there are too many unknown variables. Probably best to be examined by a dentist to start the process of diagnosing and treating the problem you have.
