hi, i have been working from home since march 30th.  with warm weather i have been able to be outside, working in the yard, walking, talking with neighbors.  but, with the cold weather coming, i work about my mental health with not being able to be outside.  i live alone, with my little dog, but alas, no conversation.  any suggestions on how to keep from going crazy?

What to do:  Continue your walks as long as you can safely do so.  Do you have a tread mill, elliptical, ski machine or some other aerobic exerciser to use during cold weather?  Stay in touch with friends and relatives via phone, texts or emails or even through things like Zoom. That continued interpersonal contact will be important, even if it is from a distance due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

Get out  and start: Meeting people ! get involved in activities. Have fun. Talk about feelings ; address problems. Don't avoid them. Aim for 7.5 - 8 hours of sleep/ night. Daily physical activity is optimal in a green space. Eat healthfully. Cut out junk carbs, caffeine ; alcohol (or  moderate). If you literally believe that you are going crazy - please see a psychologist or a psychiatrist.

Sometimes juggling family responsibilities, a job and managing finances can be overwhelming. Some people deal with it by isolating while others start feeling irritable. If you have an acute stress in your life, talk to a therapist so you can help resolve the issue.

At least their intensity can be assessed, and some suggestions can be made about your situation. On your own you can seek out companionship & involvement w/others.

Six weeks: can feel like a long time but that's about how long your doc thinks it will take your your injury to heal.  The brain has a wonderful way of adapting to changes in our body and you will soon be able to ignore to some degree the inconvenience of the sling.  When you are healed you will be glad you cooperated.  Peace and good health.

Concentration, memory ; self esteem may v with an absence of joy, feelings of helplessness or hopelessness. There may be crying spells or thoughts of death or suicide.
