It does not prompt tolerance or addiction and is most useful/ well-tolerated when initiated at very low doses, i.e., 1.25-2.5 mg bid.  Generalized anxiety is ubiquitous.  If you identify with being a "worrywart, " you may have it.

No: No psychiatric medication should be stopped abruptly and stopping such medications should be done carefully with physician supervision.

Buspirone (Buspar) is approved for anxiety and is used to augment depression medications.

You may be on too low of a dose, usual starting dose is 10 mg three times per day.

Talk to your MD about its lack of effectiveness and discuss a taper or a dose increase.

i was recently prescribed buspirone 5mg to take twice a day. i mayve accidentally taken it 3 times today is this okay? should i be concerned?

No.: Normally, Buspar is started at 7.5mg twice daily; after a month, dose is increased to therapeutic 15mg twice daily dosing. If there is not an adequate response, then the dose can be increased to 30mg twice daily. 
You may feel funny after you take Buspar; you just took the usual 15mg/day starting dose -- should be no problem.
