Same essentially: Both are deep soft tissue infections that require surgical removal of infected tissue.NF extends into muscle layers and the fascia that surrounds them. Perirectal abscess, an infection involving the buttocks and rectal area, is a necrotizing soft tissue infection that is not fasciitis. Requires surgery and sometimes a colostomy.

Short : Short answer = usually not (unless the infection has formed a pocket of pus called an abscess or if it has invaded into bone). An MRI will show the radiologist if there is edema (fluid and inflammation) in the soft tissue, but a lot of different things can cause edema in the soft tissue (such as trauma, injury, problems with veins or arteries, inflammatory disorders like lupus, etc).  The first place to start is a physical exam by your primary care provider.  Blood tests along with the physical exam findings should indicate whether there is a possible infection.
Now, if your primary care provider suspects an abscess then either mri, ct, or ultrasound would be useful to identify an abscess (ultrasound is often the most cost effective).  This is important because an abscess must usually be drained surgically rather than simply treated with antibiotics. If your doctor suspects that the infection has spread to involve bone (this is called osteomyelitis), then MRI is the best imaging modality for further evaluation.

Infection: The most likely culprit is a residual locus of infection that requires additional rx.  Could also be an adjacent tooth that needs rx, a gum disease problem, nerve damage, etc.  You have to be seen, examined, to be diagnosed and treated.  Please call your dentist...Endodontist, periodontist, or oral surgeon may need to be consulted.

Follow up with MD: After the miscarriage process is over, you need to go to the follow up appointment to be certain the process was complete. If retained products occur with infection, they may or may not produce immediate fever or other symptoms. Your MD an empty th uterus surgically if that occurs.

Yes: Tissue left in the uterus after a miscarriage or a termination can lead to infection and to heavy bleeding.  If this happens to you you need to have it taken care of.

: If the area skin is breached and it is small you need to wash and clean it and use a local antibiotic ointment, If it is more than thatpl see your OBGYN
