External appearance: Findings such as cellulitis, swelling,warmth,color change, tenderness, boginess of the tissues and palpable abscess are all clues used to determine deep tissue infection. Diagnostic studies such as mri, ct scan and ultrasound are often used to help corroborate the diagnosis
