Rash on head: There are several conditions that can cause a rash or skin peeling on  the head. If it is localized over a specific area it could be due to psoriasis. If it is associated with hair loss it could be due to fungus. If it is widespread it could be due to seborrheic dermatitis.  It is useful to use shampoos such as head and shoulders, Nizoral (ketoconazole) and tar shampoos.  Topical steroids can also help.  See MD

do steroids always help heal the skin's natural color within the 2 week treatment, or will it take time for the skin to fully heal depending on how long the rash was there and how deep or bad it was?

: steroids attempt to heal the specific rash if if was an inflammatory process. They don't tend to help the natural skin color return. Usually time will help along with some other topical  healing products , esp if pigmentation is a concern.

Stretch Mark Therapy: Tretinoin creams such as Retin-A and Renova (tretinoin) are helpful. These creams are only effective on very new stretch marks and must be administered in less than six weeks after their appearance and while the mark is still red or pink.Pulsed dye laser therapy can stimulate the growth of elastin and collagen in our skin. This method works best on new stretch marks but can be useful on old marks as well.

Urticaria?: Urticaria (aka Hives) is an itchy rash that worsens with heat and other factors like stress, alcohol, exercise, etc, however it almost always has a visible rash (red, raised whelps on skin) . Cholinergic urticaria specifically gets worse with heat and stress, but is smaller bumps on skin (again, a rash). not sure what you mean by itchy skin with no rash

i have a rash on the corona of my penis and the head. i've been treating as a yeast infection i was just wondering what arevthe signs of the treatment working?

Accepted Answer

Rash goes away.: If the medicine works, the rash will go away, usually within 10 days.  If you have not seen any improvement  after three to five days, get seen by a doctor to be sure you do have a fungal infection.  There are other causes of rashes besides yeast. If you have had unprotected sex, get checked for std's.  Also, avoid scented products and harsh soaps/detergents/fabric softeners. Don't over-scrub.

whats the best at home treatment for a nair hair removal burn on the skin between my butt cheeks, but not on my butthole? ive been using diaper rash cream, which doesnt make it worse but im not sure if it helps. had sex & pooped w/out issue.

Skin irritation: Only time will heal a burn on the skin.  Keeping the area clean and dry is also important.  Cleaning with a rinse of warm water after using the bathroom or sex is all you really need.  Diaper cream is good as it provides a barrier for sensitive skin.  Use of Nair is not recommended on your genitals or butt.  Consider shaving, waxing, or laser hair removal in the future

my 5 yo has had multiple strep infections occurring as a rash on skin around nose. could he be harboring strep in his sinuses? treatment options?

Staph rather: More than strep, ask your doctor for bactroban nasal, if s/he thinks your son would benefit from. Often times it is staph colonization of the nasal vestibule that can cause this, if no improvement, see a dermatologist, good luck

i've taken scabies treatment 2 times. first permethrin then pills and in some areas the rash has died but in some it's still there and the itch still there. my skin looks dry as well and the rash seems2 spread to all areas of my body even after 2trea?

Some basics: The rash of scabies is triggered by an allergic reaction to the poop the mite leaves in its burrows &amp; the dead bodies of the mites. The rash &amp; the related itching can take weeks to heal after the mites are all dead. Failure to kill all the mites with the lotion or pill may be a possibility, but re-infection from some unexpected source is also possible.

See a doctor: Genital skin problems are quite common and there are too many possibilities to make even an educated guess. No STD is a likely cause of such a rash, but that's about all that can be said. See a doctor -- and avoid any self treatment before you are seen, which could make diagnosis more difficult.

Rinse area with: water and do not use any of the cream and see your doctor to see if it is an allergic reaction or possibly herpes.
