It doesn't : Liver does not produce alkaline phosphatase. Instead it is elevated in conditions where inflammation / injury to te liver or bike ducts are occurring.

There are none.: An elevated alkaline phosphatase is a blood test lab finding. If elevated, could be  liver, gall bladder or bone problem. If there is only a mild elevation with all other blood tests being normal, it is possible that there is no problem, and just follow up with repeat blood testing.  As usual, don't self- or internet-diagnose.  Every american needs a good pcp/team to turn to. (my mantra).

Depends on the : Cause. Why is your alkaline phosphatase elevated? Do you know that it is due to liver disese? Bone disese also elevates alkaline phosphatase. It would be prudent to consut your doctor. This is not an issue for self treatment.

Maybe: Normal is up to 140 so 159 is not very elevated.  Liver function tests usually do not get dr's concern until 5-10 times normal but depends on your health and medications and if you drink or use drugs or smoke etc, etc.

If high...: It's a marker for slow or obstructed bile flow somewhere in the liver. It's also up in later pregnancy, any situation with growing or healing bone, and in many folks simply from a nonfasting specimen.

See below: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, alkaline phosphatase of 139 alone is not a cause for concern. I trust that you are under the care of a doctor for the treatment of anemia.

For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

in 2008 - alkaline phosphatase level 166 and liver size 180mm. in 2016 my liver was 157mm, no alkaline phosphatase tested. just has tests again - alk phos 121, liver size 210mm. why alk phos lower but liver larger? how can i shrink it? how long to?

Need more info: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, one reason for your liver to be larger could be fatty infiltration. If you are overweight, lose weight. If you are diabetic, better control of diabetes is important. Do not drink alcohol at all. Have your medications checked by your doctor

Many sources: Alkaline phosphate is high due to multiple reasons. They get high due to problem in liver, bone or intestine. It's unclear if your level gets to normal. It will be wise to discuss with pcp.

Possibly: any infection, like a cellulitis can cause a systemic response leading to inflammation of other organs including your liver.  Medications you are taking such as antibiotics, can also cause elevated liver enzymes and an elevated alk phosphatase level

Likely normal: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that.
