: I wonder why you did not contact the surgeon. You had the procedure called stapled hemorrhoidectomy and the staples were supposed to fall off and pass in the stool unnoticed. It seems that you could have a staple not sloughed off by itself so you should contact the surgeon for help.

Depends on location: There may be reasons to keep material a little longer, but general guidelines:

sutures
eyelids – 3 days
neck – 3 to 4 days
face – 5 days

sutures and staples
scalp – 7 to 14 days
trunk and upper extremities – 7 days
lower extremities – 8 to 10 days.

Mgt: If the wound is clean and if you have had a tetanus vaccination within the last 10 years,  you are still protected.  If there is a wound infection, please see your provider and a booster may be given at that time.

Probably: At this stage, most healing has taken place and the wound strength is fine.  You need a dressing only to absorb secretions if there are any, but if this is not happening, you can leave it uncovered.

Healing: Your skin is healing from your surgery.  Use of soap and water, gently may help remove the crust and keep your incision clean.  A soap such as dial is a good choice.

Yes: if it has been more than 5 years since your last shot or if you cant remember, you should get a new shot, sooner rather than later. If you know the doctor you went to the last time you had your tetinus shot, they probably have records and can tell you when you had your last shot. Also look out for signs of infection, like increaseing warmth or draining puss, increasing pain, etc

No: Hepatitis C is transmitted from person to person by exposure to blood or, less commonly, sexual intercourse - vaginal or rectal.

If the staple was not stained with blood or had not pierced someone else’s skin prior to yours, there is no reason to be concerned

See below: Drink plenty of liquids, avoid narcotics, use laxatives if needed (miralax, senokot), add fiber to the diet (metamucil). Contact your surgeon if you continue to have difficulties.
