Yes: I am unaware of any contraindication. However, make sure the alcohol consumption is moderate. With or without the Mag Citratee.

Accepted Answer

No: This will not cause you to die. I would not make a regular habit of it, however, since both magnesium citrate and alcohol can dehydrate you somewhat. I would drink a lot of water to hydrate in the meantime. Do not go overboard with the alcohol. Good luck.

Why taking?: If taking for constipation, drinking 10 ounces of magnesium citrate, induces large volume stool output between 1-6 hours later.  Therefore eating after may be a little uncomfortable.  If you are taking to raise your magnesium levels i would try a different form such as magnesium oxide or magnesium protein plus.

Vimova: Vimova is a combination drug that contains over the counter Naproxen or Aleve plus a proton pump inhibitor or nexium (esomeprazole). Naproxen like most all non steroidal anti inflammatories act to inhibit inflammation but also to decrease protection in stomach to stomach acid. The use of magnesium may cause side effects of nausea and diarrhea more readily due to the presence of magnesium in the proton pump inh.

Virtually nil: In actual fact you are getting the effects of "overdose"--flushing out the large bowel.

Correct: Tastes awful, but better than GoLytely (polyethylene glycol) and some other prep medications.
Usually quite effective. With one bottle 3 oz.

Don't bother.: There's really no benefit to intermittently cleaning yourself out like this.  You may feel quite good afterwards, but there's no discernible medical benefit, and quite frankly the more intensive forms of cleaning oneself out are rather risky.  So, no, I would not advise that you do this.

i opened and never used a magnesium citrate bottle about 9 months ago ive kept in in my medicine cabinets since then. i am having a colonoscopy and they told me to drink 10 onz of it. is it ok to drink the bottle i have from 9 months ago?

: The solution is unlikely to deteriorate and should still be effective. Having said there are more appropriate methods to prepare for colonoscopy, e.g. Polyethylene glycol solution

can i take magnesium citrate and zinc longterm?  i drink light beer daily so i worry about depletion of these minerals.

15 mg of Zinc daily: The recommended daily allowance of zinc is 15 mg. You shouldn't take more than 30 mg a day of zinc for an extended period because that can inhibit your absorption of iron and copper which are also important minerals.

No.: While having laxitive properti!es, it is mild and "does not always" clean  you out!
