Norethisterone: Norethisterone is progesterone, and if taken daily will provide effective contraception, but it does not always stop ovulation. It is usually used to stop irregular bleeding or "pre-menstrual syndrome" (PMS).  After the two months, you will revert to your normal cycle. At 35, it may be more applicable to use oral contraceptive pills, if there are no contraindications.  Consult your gyn provider.

You can also stop ovulating if you are stressed, exercise a whole lot ( like Olympic level athletes ), diet excessively ( like anorexia), or , most commonly, develop poly cystic ovarian syndrome.

i thought about this question over night.  The simple answer is that you may not know or at least not 'feel' this natural event occurring. 

But, if you are having normal menses every month and you have all of your normal anatomy then you can be assured that your are most likely ovulating regularly.
