Mittleschmerz: Pain around ovulation is called 'mittleschmerz' and is extremely common and normal, not to say that it's pleasant. Pain from ovulation is usually very responsive to treatment with nsaids otc drugs like advil, aleve, (naproxen) etc. Simple things like use of a heating pad can help, women who use birth control pills often get significant relief.
