Needs to be treated: Papillary and follicular cancer (the most common) are slow growing compared to cancers such as lung or colon.  But untreated they can spread and cause complications, shorten your life.  Thyroid cancer can be readily treated, first with surgery, then with radioactive iodine. Unless the patient has a short life expectancy (eg. Very old, other medical problems), thyroid ca should be treated.

I don't understand: your thyroid history. Was your cancer removed? Do you still have thyroid cancer in your body? You need to provide a lot more details -- but there are no foods you need to avoid, unless you are scheduled to receive a dose of radioiodine, in which case iodine restriction may be indicated before dosing. Yes and No: Thyroid Cancer comes in many forms. It may be localized to the Thyroid gland only, where it can remain harmless for one or two years but will likely spread slowly into Neck areas into the lymph nodes. It may stay there for one to two years. Then it is likely to spread to distant organs like Lungs and or Bone,rarely liver. Once it has spread away farther than tthe neck area, it is no longer curable

Stage and type: It really depends on the stage and type.  Early stage, well-differentiated thyroid cancers have an excellent survival rate of over 90% over 10 years.  The type of thyroid cancer with the worst survival is called anaplastic and patients survive generally a few months.  Anaplastic thyroid cancer is very rare, and most other types are readily treated.

Please clarify: Hi. We don't grade thyroid cancer by percentage of a nodule involved. If you have thyroid cancer, you have it. If the cancer was a microfocus, it can be ignored. If the nodule was cancer, depending on nodule size, you may need a completion thyroidectomy followed by 131-iodine therapy. That landscape is somewhat in transition. Speak with an experienced endocrinologist who can see path report.

Thyroid cancer: It sounds like your question is whether this is the same cancer you had 50 years ago, and how it could occur after removal of all thyroid tissue. Papillary cancers from the lung and thyroid may look very similar and have almost identical markers, so it could be a primary lung cancer. But rare remnants of thyroid tissue can occur outside the neck and give rise to cancer also.
