Multiple factors: Lack of iron is the commonest cause. Lack of folate and B12 vitamins also interferes with red cell production. Viral infections, e.g., parvo virus can shut down production. Bone marrow suppression from any cause, e.g., chemotherapy will do it too. 
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Yes, but we need: More information on why there is a production problem.  Could be iron folate (folic acid) or B12 which would be treated with supplementation. If it is related to kidney problems then it would be treated with erythropoietin

Aplastic anemia: When this happens, it's usually possible to find the cause but treatment is often difficult and the prognosis guarded. It requires sub specialist consultation. I hope things turn out well

Who is donor?: This depends--if it is an autologous transplant where a patient receives their own cells then the immune system and blood type are unchanged.
An allogeneic transplant comes from donor different than the patient.  In this case the immune system changes.  Also, if the donor has a different red cell type then the recipient's blood type will change too.

Steroids?: By hypoplastic anemia, i assume that you mean diamond-blackfan anemia. If not, then disregard my answer. Many patients with dba improve their red blood cell production with steroid treatment, and many of those that respond to steroids can be maintained on very low doses of steroids. For those patients that do not respond, chronic transfusion therapy is necessary to allow adequate hemoglobin values.

Yes: The bone marrow is the factory of the blood - every blood cell begins life there. If the bone marrow is full of cancer, or weakened, there is not capacity or energy to produce enough red blood cells.

Many conditions: Pancytopenia, or decrease in rbc, wbc, and platelets can be genetic, like Fanconi anemia or Dyskeratosis congenital, that include other abnormalities.  Acquired pancytopenia, besides low B12 and Folate, (folic acid) can be caused by a toxin, drugs, radiation, a viral infection, malnutrition and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). If a cause is not found, it is said to be idiopathic.  I hope it resolves.

i have high b12 and ferritin, low rbc and flow cytometry showed less than 1% rare circulating myeloid blasts in my blood (not bone marrow). ive had frequent colds (that come with fevers) since october and have lost roughly 30 lbs since then?

: It seems you have chronic anemia due to a chronic illness, less likely due to leukemia. Because of weight loss and frequent viral infections, a thorough immune work-up should be done. An experienced internist  may be able to help you besides a hemato-oncologist. Good luck!

Marrow hyperplasia: Loss of blood causes kidney to produce erythropoietin that makes the red bone marrow grow. If the signal is strong enough and long enough the red marrow can grow into areas of yellow marrow.
