Could be sinus: Could be acute sinusitis.  However the cause depends on the rest of the history and exam.  For ex: if one had a recent trauma, those symptoms could be due to a facial injury.  Best to see your doc for evaluation.

With medication: 48-72 hrs minimum. What medicine were you given for treatment. 12 hours is too early to see effects of therapy.

To a point...: ..  the acidic environment of the infection can thwart the  anesthetic, but your dentist can still make you comfortable even with the infection. Don't read so much on the internet.. it can get quite confusing. Your dentist has thousands of hours of training and experience, so don't worry.

The side of the face could mean a dental infection, an infection of the saliva gland, a skin infection, a benign growth as well as many other possibilities. If you are concerned about it then i would recommend seeing your primary care doctor or an ENT doctor for a complete evaluation.

You may be right...: It might be your wisdom tooth. Then again, it might not be. The cause is unknown. An exam by a local dentist will let you know what the issue is and what treatment is needed, if any.

Periorbital  edema: Very typical that with head injury one gets craniofacial trauma. Swelling normal and will get better three days after incident.
