i have epilepsy. i quit drinking alcohol. i couldn't sleep last night and kept having seizure auras, shakes, panic. i feel if i do not just drink, that i won't sleep and will have a grand mal seizure. should i taper off instead of cold turkey?

Stay off alcohol: Alcohol is a poison that never did anybody any good, ever, so stay away from it.

Need more tests: Neither protein shakes or alcohol will increase liver enzymes so much. Enzymes that are that high usually signify hepatitis, which may be Hepatitis A, B, C or caused by a different virus such as EBV. There are also other possible causes. Please follow-up with the doctor who ordered this test to ask what other tests should be done to determine the cause.

'Filter' shut down: Alcohol anesthetizes some of the higher functions of the brain, including the one that 'filters' what we say and constrains what we do. This makes many less serious (the 'fun' / 'happy' drunks), but makes others brutally honest / 'mean' or downright angry. When sober, should address this pattern with your friend and discourage him/her from alcohol use due to its negative immediate effects on them.

Likely unrelated : Depending on which antibiotic you are on and the reason you are taking them and how much you drank the pain you are experiencing is probably unrelated. However the area in your back that hurts is near your kidney and if you drank a lot and the antibiotic is metabolized/excreted through the kidney then you may be overworking them. Or it may be muscle strain. Best not to drink when taking any meds.

Alcohol: More than likely it is alcohol since you drink a lot of it. Bowel problems present differently.
