i recently had a physical for a new job, including blood work and urinalysis. to prepare, i didn't consume any food the morning of the exam except water. the results came back with "trace a" ketones in my urine. i'm not diabetic.what does that mean?

: It means your body was breaking down some fat to convert to energy. With that history of fasting I would expect that urine finding. I wouldn'rt worry about it.

32 y/o male. difficulty passing stool, issue urinating on/off at times. pain in right hip muscles (only when leading to left side stretching muscle). plenty of water intake. desk job. stress? anxiety? cancer? history of colon cancer in family?

: Stress and sedentary life style are the most common risk factors for constipation. Colon K is at bottom of the list at your age. Besides high fluid intake, you should eat more fiber or take routine stool softener + exercise. Use mild laxative such as miralax OTC if no BM for 2 days. Currently with that urine frequency, you should have an enema first. Your right hip pain is likely a separate issue.

is it possible to be fired from a job if my urine test is positive?

Could be: It would depend on the policy of the company, but if you are talking about a positive test for illegal drugs and the company has a policy of no drug tolerance, then yes.  There are some foods, (poppy seed muffins), that can give a false positive for drugs, so their could be extenuating circumstances.

Suboxone Testing: I understand your need to pass Test for Suboxone.
 Its ingredient, Buprenorphine can be detected in your urine for up to 3 days after one single dose and possibly days later if you are using buprenorphine in high doses over time. It is likely that it will  not show in urine after 1 week of abstinence.

Tell them. : If you are prescribed Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) I would recommend just disclosing to your employer that you take it and offer to get a note from your prescribing physician.

Probably not: Marijuana will show up in a urine screening test for up to a week after use. If you want the job its time to avoid it.

Benzos and Drug Test: Unfortunately valium and drugs like it, known as benzodiazepines, can be positive for six to eight weeks. Even when taking them sparingly.  It may be wise to let your employer you used them with a prescription. But that is up to you.

Xanax (alprazolam): Simply show your xanax (alprazolam) prescription to the lab when you go in for your urine test, and that will explain any + result.  Xanax (alprazolam) has an elimination half-life of 12-15 hours -- meaning about 3 days to be gone.  If you can show that a physician is treating you with xanax (alprazolam), your potential employer should be satisfied that you're not using drugs illegally.

Probably: Please don't try it again. The level detected, if any, will probably be below the cutoff that proves you used. The stuff really is bad for you. You can end up trying it and discovering you can't be happy without it.
