Yes: Pregnancy tests come in a variety of forms with a variety of indicators. The First Response Digital Pregnancy Test has a small rectangular window on which the words Yes + or No - would appear. If your window was solid black, the test has malfunctioned, either because there was not enough urine detected or because the test was faulty. Get another test and try again.

Need more info: In general, x rays are made by passing photons through the body and then detecting where and how many of those photons actually get through.  Areas of the body that are more dense (like the bones) let fewer photons through and therefore appear more dense.

Common in your age: Many younger women have dense breasts on mammograms. This means more glandular tissue. In older women there is more fatty tissue and the mammogram is actually better.

A lot of Grey: Mammograms are great screening tests for cancer but they have many limitations, including finding many "densities" that turn out to be "shadows" on more careful examination.  Fda-approved breast centers & their radiologists are experts at sorting thru this--have your doctor review this with you and decide if further evaluation (ie, ultrasound, surgical consultation)  is necessary.

Breast tissue: This is the term used on mammogram reports to indicate that the breast tissue is thickened and makes it harder to see all the breast tissue.  Young women are supposed to have dense tissue.  As we age, we loose the dense tissue and get fatty-which causes us to droop.  It is breast density that keeps our breasts perky and off the floor. :).

i had a 1.4cm solid thyroid biopsied. does that mean it's cancerous?

Need biopsy!: Most thyroid nodules aren't serious and don't cause symptoms. Thyroid cancer accounts for just a small percentage of thyroid nodules. It's not possible to say whether or not the nodule is cancer until the biopsy is done. However, even if cancer is present please don't give up since the cure rates for thyroid cancer are overall very good. I wish you well with your health!

More fat than fiber: Essentially, breasts are comprised of fat and fibrous tissue.  Fat/fatty tissue is less dense than fibrous.  Dense tissue is challenging to image and assess for any potential growths (e.g. cancer).

Depends: Breast density on a mammogram can have a lot of meanings. It is a normal and natural finding in younger women, and does not have much meaning. Density can make the mammogram more difficult for the radiologist to read, and they may recommend other tests too, such as an ultrasound. A new density, when comparing a past mammogram to a new one, may mean further evaluation is needed.
