ACL tear at age 42: Tough call but if you are experiencing instability you may have to consider repair. One reason to repair is to prevent further damage of menisci . ACL tears can be treated non-operatively with success but you have to modify activities permanently. If you aren't willing to do that then surgery may be better answer for you. Must consider work as well, can you take time off? Can you work now?

Surgery: The standard treatment is a knee arthroscopy to reconstruct the acl with tissue that is taken from you or from a cadaver.  The meniscus is treated with either a repair or removing the torn portion.

Surgery vs Therapy: Most healthy, active people with a torn medial meniscus require arthroscopic surgery to treat the tear.  Reconstructing the acl, becomes a more difficult problem.  It is a bigger surgery, requiring 6 months to 1 year of rehab.  Decision for surgery is based on an individual basis.

Yes: I don&#x27;t know how old your daughter is or how athletic she is. This is an unusual injury hit dashboard, fell hard on knee ..? Non operative tx. for PCL is probably indicated. If she really has a meniscus tear then have it scoped and fixed. Quad strengthening and bracing should be helpful until she&#x27;s thru growth. She may never need it reconstructed if it&#x27;s truly isolated.I perform arthroscopic PCL r

Possibly: If a tear in the meniscus occurs in the area where there is good blood supply, it can potentially heal/be repaired.  The inner two thirds of the meniscus does not have much blood supply and tears in that area usually do not heal.

i had acl grade 3 and meniscus surgery 7&half months ago till today i am only able to bend my leg till 110 degrees and not able to walk properly or climb stairs should i be concerned for not achieving enough bend and get re operated?

: This can best be judged by your surgeon as without knowing the original findings and surgery performed  it cant be predicted. Good luck

: This is a judgement call, as depends upon knee stability and likelihood of progressive healing associated with conservative therapy.  The big issue is the potential development of "wear and tear arthritic degeneration" (chondromalacia).  At your age, 21 yrs, you have potential for worsening over the  years.  Obtain at least 2 orthopedic surgical consultations and decide.

It's a : "Non specific" abnormality but MAY indicate an intrasubstance tear (tear in the body of the cartilage which makes up the meniscus. The lateral meniscus is the cartilage which supports the "outside" of the knee. The physician who ordered the MRI should be consulted as to what your next "move" should be (No PUN intended)
