Does it bother you?: If this grinding sound is persistent and bothersome you should continue looking for the source. A loose piece of cartilage? bone?  early arthritis may not show in X-rays. After a careful examination by your orthopedist other types of imaging of your nee (MRI?) should be considered.

Its : Its important to know your age andfor how long these symptoms have been present . Wrist and ankles are more likely to be affected in inflammatory, deposition and cristal arthritis. It is important to know the length of the morning stiffness. On the other hand x rays might not show changes early in the disease  and only after several months. If the problem is inflammatory arthrtis , you need to see a rheumatologist to define what kind of arhrtis you have , and decide upon tretamnet , massaging , wrapping or shoe inserts are not treatment that might work in patient with inflammatory arthritis.. 
Consult with a rheumatologist is important to defifine the nature of the disease and decide on adecuade treament.

Not always on x-ray: Ct scanning is best to show the bone detail of the temporomandibular joint and MRI is best at showing whether there is an abnormality of the joint itself (meniscus). An ENT doctor would be the best source of guidance on which would be advised.

Don’t abuse these-: -areas, avoid activity that brings it on. You usually know what to avoid by how you feel the next day. There are OTC NSAIDS you can try but don’t use them so you can do more,as even though you may be able to,you will be irritating these areas &amp; increase their progression. Just be sensible about what you do.

i seen a chiropractor for neck pain, n took x-rays he said i had a lot of arthritis, n my spine was not curved but straight up n down.no known injuries?

Age,posture: Some  arthritis comes c age. Altered posture can cause curves to flatten. It may also just be how your spine is.
