Abnormal urinalysis: Leukocytes, nitrates and bacteria in urine with dysuria will indicate urinary infection and usually treated with antibiotics.

Herpes: A herpes culture is still the most accurate way to test for herpes.  A blood test for herpes can tell if you have been exposed but it can not tell you the location of the infection.

Depends: It is argueable that a psa is more sensitive for prostate cancer, and a colonoscopy is more sensitive for cancer.  If both are ordered, your doctor may feel this will be more than enough.  Urine testing is also not usually recommended any more for screening assymptomatic, low-risk individuals.  In the age of evidence-based medicine, we have to be sure we are following evidence not tradition.

No: I'm not worried about a "trace" of blood because you mentioned only rare red cells in the sediment. Going to the gym can give you this from the myoglobin. Get checked next year.

Pregnancy tests: The most common cause of a negative pregnancy test is not being pregnant. Generally you should recheck in one week. Missing periods can occur for a variety of reasons and can be normal even though it can be very concerning.

Depends: on what your physician orders but in general, 24 hr urine collection is done to assess 1) filtering function of the kidneys (i.e. creatinine clearance), 2) presence/severity of proteinuria, or 3) as part of kidney stone work-up.

Yes, but...: Yes, you can go back and get a repeat urinalysis as a "test of cure", but often that is not necessary if you are now feeling well and asymptomatic.  However, if you have a problem with recurrent infections or some kind of immunocompromise, then a follow is probably a good idea.

Can be both: Many tests can be run on urine, although the selection is not as vast as blood testing.  The basic test is called a urinalysis or ua.  A urine cytology is a separate test where a pathologist evaluates the urine for cancer cells.  Please ask your doctor more about the testing.

Screening: These are less accurate than blood or saliva but the insurance folks are probably more interested in convenience.

Accepted Answer

Not always: Urine test would exclude urinary infection as etiology for pain. Blood tests would show elevation of inflammatory markers and white blood cell count to incriminate infectious inflammatory process. Gold standard  now ultrasound if normal appendix visualized. Some times not visualized on Ultrasound, then CT of abdomen with intravenous contrast usually has answer of  appendix or other etiology
