Pinched nerve: No. These structures are too far apart in the body to affect eachother. 

You might have to look to your cervical spine for the pinched nerve. A pinched nerve is also called radiculitis and causes radiating nerve root pain. People typically feel shooting or stabbing pain (can be constant or episodic) and follows a nerve root pattern.

Usually not noticed: Most people cannot feel or see their thyroid, unless it is very big.  If you think you see a buldge in your neck, chances are you are seeing a normal structure, cartiledge or muscle.  If you have symptoms of hyper or hypothyroid, or a suspicious lump, you should see your doctor.

Thyroid should not: be hypertrophied because of streptococcal infection, but the lymph nodes in the cervical chain along your neck will be.  What you are feeling is most likely the lymph nodes. Overactive symptoms include shakiness, palpitations, diarrhea, sweats, nervousness. Underactive symptoms include fatigue, weight gain, constipation, coarse hair and skin. If your gland is enlarged you should see your doctor.

Goiter: The thyroid expands in part to compensate, and to make enough thyroid hormone when there is something internally wrong with the thyroid.  You may have hashimoto's thyroiditis, which is injuring your thyroid, but it is responding by getting bigger.  Or it could be a multinodular goiter.  Cancer is a possibility, but much less common, and you should not worry.  See your doctor about this.

Not necessarily: You can't tell if something is hyperfunctioning from thephysical appearance of the gland.  A thyroid scan is the best method to suggest whether or not a lobe is hyperfunctioning.
