Also it could very well  be the clinical aspect of herpes (viral infection) or the initial stage of aphtous ulcer(s) (bacterial) in which cases you will experiment burning sensation and/or pain.

Acne : This could possibly be perioral dermatitis , an acne related condition treated with gentle non soap cleansers such as cetaphil or cereve , topical and sometimes oral antibiotics under the guidance of a dermatologist.

Not likely: Herpes begins as a water blister, makes a scab, heals in 5 to 10 days. Recurrent on same spot. Just one spot.

Infection: Dental infection or abscesses have points to which it drains. Looks like a pimple. The point of drainage is a fistula. When a tooth becomes abscessed or a cyst or other pathology drains it will follow this path of least resistance to the fistula. If the infection is significant, jaw swelling or lymph nodes near or in neck drain fluids as well and this is consistant with swelling described by you.

No: You cannot get a traditional "pimple" on your tongue like on your skin. A pimple on the skin is a blocked oil gland or pore which has become infected with bacteria. The tongue does not have oil glands or pores, so it doesn't get pimples. However, there are all sorts of other lumps and bumps which can form on the tongue (but not pimples). If you have something, get it checked by a dentist or ent.

Inflamed Papillae: What may appear as a pimple on the back of your tongue could be an inflamed taste bud.  Also, tonsillar tissues are located around the throat in this area in a 'ring' pattern, that may be enlarged or inflamed. Finally, some lesions of this type may be related to oral cancer or std's.  My advise is to visit an oral surgeon or oral pathologist very, very soon for a thorough examination of this area!

See your dentist: Since the tongue does not have the structures that lead to pimples, what you have is some other process. What it is can best be determined by exam, and your dentist is a good source.Your primary care doc might be able to assist you also.

Temporary: It is probably a swollen taste bud or a small ulceration.  It should go away within a week or so.  If it does not go away have it checked by your doctor.
