Recurrent hernia: One thing i would be worried about is a recurrent hernia.  The other possibility is an enlarged lymph node.  A good physical exam with your doctor may be able to distinguish between the two, other wise you might need a ct scan or an ultrasound.

Probably: Get area examined. An ultrasound or ct scan can see hernia also but usually just need examination by someone experienced with hernias; typically a surgeon.

Prob scar tissue: Scar tissue can be extra sensitive  I would suggest following up with the surgeon or your PCP to make sure not a post surgical issue

Postoperative Check: 33 year old gentleman s/p hernia surgery now with a "bump" in the area of surgery. Please contact your surgeon immediately. What you are noticing may be a seroma, fluid collection, or even a wound infection. It is impossible to tell without an exam. Groin pain: May be a sports hernia  which is  stretchng or tearing of the oblique muscles or the tendons of the adductors.  May also be just  irritation of the inguinal ligament, rarely sciatic pain, prostate/ testicular /intestine/kidney   issue.  F/u/ w/ doc

Not long: recovery after an inguinal hernia repair is fairly rapid especially with laparoscopic techniques. When you patch a hole in a tire, you put it right back on the car. In a similar way, when a groin hernia is fixed with mesh, activity only needs to be restricted by discomfort.

i had umbilical hernia surgery 4 weeks ago.  i now have a hard lump in the area of the belly button/just above. second repair with mesh. is this normal?

It is probably: healing or edge of mesh at this stage, recurrence or infection is unlikely.  Show it to your surgeon, just to be sure.

i had laproscopic inguinal hernia surgery 6 months ago....my groin area still hurts for days after i workout. doc says it feels ok. will this improve?

Yes,: Yes it should improve. Depends of the type of the procure. Certainly if persist have it checked out  just to rule out a recurrence of the hernia. Rarely, but it can happen.
