Secondary causes could include anything associated with tissue hypoxia ex. Chronic pulmonary disease.  Normal arterial po2 could mean increase carboxyhemoglobinemia 2nd to cigarette smoking.  Inappropriate increase ex renal disorders;ex renal cyst or ca. 
Primary cause; p. Vera bone marrow disorder.

Having said that, the information your provided does not add up. It would be prudent to discuss it with the doctor who ordered the tests.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex. 
Get HPV vaccine.

Neither do I.: I have researched this myself &amp; also don't know what an MSH level is.  Perhaps there was a miscommunication.  Welchol (colesevelam) is one of a class of medications used to treat elevated cholesterol which is a risk factor for coronary artery and peripheral artery disease.  Contact your doctor for clarification.

How low?: If they are just a bit below the range (which is what most people have), but above 1000, and your physician isn't concerned, then you should not be either. If lower, repeat. Stress can bump them either up or down. Glad you're being proactive.
