Pain usually resolves over a few hours. Usually caused by gallstones. Need to go to an er if pains & vomiting do not resolve.

Talk with you doctor: Ocasionally complications can arise after the galbladder is removed. This can include new stone formation or blockage in the bile duct, or a problem with the pancreas. Sometimes there is scar tissue that also causes a problem. You will need an evaluation, but if you are vomiting, turning yellow, have a fever, or if you have severe pain, an ER visit is reasonable.

For GB function: During gall bladder attack as a small stone get stuck in gb duct completely blocking the out flow., then will cause complications, . This could be detected by biliary scan path of excretion, isotope can be seen in the bile  ducts, will show ductal abnormality , if gall bladder is not seen  means there is obstruction. At cystic duct that means need surgery , avoid complications.
