Why did you: Have the clot? Was it the result of an injury? Are your bruises only on one leg? Sounds like you might want to get it checked out. You might have some sort if disorder that causes clots and you would need to know.

I : I recommend that you should go to your primary care physician so that he can check it and refer for possible doppler ultrasound to rule out the clot if necessary. Clot usually dont present as a knot, it may present as pain, redness , swelling in calf(common in calf but can be any part of lower extremity).Knot can be caused by many other reasons also like injury. Immobility, for example can cause clots (dvt). If the blood vessel is damaged from the injury, then yes clot formation can occur.

Depending on the size of the clot that goes to the lungs you can die from this event (it is called a pulmonary embolism).  Clot in the legs can also cause significant pain and swelling in the leg.
