Would the pain from a blood clot in calf be constant or painful?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Painless: The dangerous blood clots that move to lungs (embolism ) due to deep vein thrombosis will give barely discomfort or none. Phlebitis of superficial veins will give pain may take wks to subside, do not embolize, due to valves in the superficial veins.
