Yes it is: Good OB doctors examine the placenta. Important to rule out a partially retained placenta. Also in all cases of intra-uterine growth retardation, if present, of babies.

Many possibilities: There are many possible reasons.  The most common reason is that an infection or abnormality of the placenta is suspected.  Placenta testing is also part of many pregnancy related research protocols.  Best wishes!

Depends!: In any high risk or complicated deliveries, we send the placenta to pathology to look for any reason for the complications.  In normal deliveries, the placenta is bundled together with other placentas and cremated.  If you want to keep the placenta, you can ask your doctor.  It does have to be handled in a special manner though.  So let us know before your delivery.

Not much: Just refers to its position relative to the uterus. This can change and migrate to differnt position during the pregnancy. Not a reason for concern.

Not possible: It's not possible to tell the gender of baby fetus without looking at ultrasound. And it is illegal in India to get gender test of the unborn.

Nothing: Nothing, the placenta is "working" just fine up to this point by providing blood to your baby as far as is known by your OB MD.

May well move: As the uterus grows, the placenta may move with it away from the cervix which is the anchor.
Repeat ultrasound in 4 weeks.

Need more info: It's important that you keep regular appointments with your obstetrician &amp; to follow up routinely so that your reproductive capabilities are preserved and the baby will be born without any problems.

Yes : The situation warrants close monitoring but in general ultrasound findings of partial abruption do not warrant delivery at 34wks. If you begin to bleed or show signs of fetal compromise that could change quickly. You are at increased risk for heavy sudden bleeding which carries additional risk being a jw and need to continue taking iron, vitamins, etc to minimize risks of anemia.
