Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react. They shrink when all is well.

Influenza vaccine: Flu shot side effects may include:  slight swelling, redness or pain at vaccination site.  If headache, nausea, fever or  muscular pain occur they usually resolve within one to two days.  You won't get the flu from a flu shot because the virus either contains inactivated virus or doesn't have virus particles in it. Severe side effects are rare. Don't know which nodes were swollen. enlarged submandibular lymph nodes for about 6 weeks. us showed multiple straight prominent lymph nodes measuring 0.9 x 1.1 x 1.8 cm and 1.5 x 1.0 x 1.6 cm. cbc normal besides wbc (3.0 l). could this be from 2nd covid shot which i had 2 months ago?

: Lymph nodes are your body’s way of eliminating infection, in this case, head and neck.  They can persist days to weeks and should shrink with time.  If they are small, usually no problem.  At six weeks it is reasonable to see your doctor to discuss and to have a good physical exam.  Most likely this will resolve.  It's probably not your vaccine - that would be armpit nodes.

i got a flu shot a week ago. my lymph nodes under my arm are swollen and won't go down. i  have been feeling dizzy and faint. is this serious?

Reactive nodes: Swollen nodes may be a reaction to the flu shot.Try using some warm compresses on the nodes for 30-30minutes several times a day.  If they don't begin to shrink in a day or two see your doctor for evaluation.

: Lymph node swelling in opposite arm has been reported following COVID-19 vaccines, but typically this emerges progressively over a few days.  Have your doctor evaluate this just to be certain that no other infective co-morbidity is present.  Most likely this will clear over next several days.

No: Lymph nodes are like little beans. The feel like beans of various sizes but similar shapes. Areas of multiple enlarged beans can mean a problem. If the beans grow together in a mass and start to stick together or onto something else, that can mean a big problem. Individual, movable beans less than a nickel in diameter are usually ok in kids, teens, and young adults... but may need an exam by a Dr.

It depends on their: size.  In general, they are bean shaped and feel firm but not hard.  They may be tender to the touch.  Lymph nodes that are cancerous tend to be fixed in one place, while "benign" nodes wiggle somewhat under the skin.
