Skip it: As long as she is doing better, skip it.  It won't hurt anything and it would be too late at this point to be effective.

year ago  first episode of afib , in e.r.  x-rayed my chest ,doctor told me my lungs were ok and not cause of afib, could copd be missed or not seen?

Copd unlikely cause: Lifestyle issues are essential. Optimum weight, no Etoh, and regular exercise reduce AF occurrences and increase by 5 fivefold a favorable response to ablation therapy if needed. BP regulation is essential. See an AF expert and ask whether anticoagulation is essential. You are at fairly low risk of clots/strokes with AF. You may also inquire about a "pill in the pocket" approach to tx.

does an 8 y.o boy who's taking prednisolone 3mg/day need a stress dose during surgery? does the risk during surgery increase the longer he's on medication?

: The dose is not high, and a cortisol level may be ordered prior to surgery. Discuss with your PCP and surgeon. The type and duration of the surgery is important to consider.

Don't need to taper: most probably your daughter received it for an asthma axacerbation, prednisone bursts can be given up to 60 mgs/day upto 10 days without tapering, prednisone increases appetite though, the wt gain will hopefully go down after stopping, goodluck

Variable by case: Only your doctor can determine the type and duration of treatment. Followup studies are needed to monitor progress. Often the dose can be tapered after the urine protein loss declines and other factors normalize, but all depends on your individual response to therapy.

With guidance: Prednisalone can benefit a kid during croup, but its use should be under the guidance of the prescribing physician. This med can interfere with a variety of immune responses &amp; have side effects. The physician who knows his case &amp; current status can best decide when &amp; if this should be used.

Yes, but: Hi. In the US, we don't use prednisone (Iodotra) for CAH; we use low dose dexamethasone. Prednisone can cross react in some cortisol assays (if your doc happens to want to measure cortisol); dexamethasone doesn't cross react. But prednisone (and prednisolone) work fine for suppressing the adrenal pathway in CAH. Use only enough to suppress the pathway, but not enough to make you Cushingoid!

Mimic natural cycle: Our body has a strong circadian rhythm of releasing endogenous steroids like cortisol primarily in the early morning so this is done to mimic the natural cycle. Steroids tend to be stimulating so taking them late in the day is likely to cause insomnia.
