what do the doctors do with the placenta after birth?

Depends!: In any high risk or complicated deliveries, we send the placenta to pathology to look for any reason for the complications.  In normal deliveries, the placenta is bundled together with other placentas and cremated.  If you want to keep the placenta, you can ask your doctor.  It does have to be handled in a special manner though.  So let us know before your delivery.

Yes it is: Good OB doctors examine the placenta. Important to rule out a partially retained placenta. Also in all cases of intra-uterine growth retardation, if present, of babies.

: Your description is confusing. The placenta needs to be located in a position that does not block the transit of baby down and out the birth canal. The placenta provides the oxygen. If it blocks the exit it may deliver before baby who then has no oxygen supply during delivery. Please clarify the issue with the doc. A blocking placenta likely means a c-section at the first signs of labor.

gave birth 1 week ago. bp spiked 191/90 during birth then deopped 138/65. at 1 week check up bp 148/100. doc had me lay down retook still high ?

Postpartum HTN: Antihypertensive agents may be required temporarily postpartum if the hypertension is severe. Usually if the systolic bp is greater than 140s. Monitor bp closely. The pills may be stopped after a few weeks depending if the pressure comes back to normal. Talk to your doctor.

during my 6week check up doctor did the usual pap smear came back high grade. ..never had an abnormal one before. is this sometimes normal after birth?

Yes but...: Often times the pap will go back to normal after childbirth. However, you still will need a colposcopy to make sure your cervix doesn't have any severe or cancerous changes now.

does penicillin affect femynor brand birth control? ive heard yes and no from many doctors and sources and want another opinion. the doctor that just prescribed it said it wouldnt interfere so i wanted to double check again. thanks?

Possibly: ANY ANTIBIOTIC has the potential to affect effectiveness of hormonal therapy , so I  would absolutely use additional birth control method you don't desire pregnancy at this time. Don't regret things a month from now...

5 years ago i gave birth... the doctor told me i have hpv.. i was not worry about it since i never had no symptoms. in orther words i thought he was lieing. since i never got check by him. he only help me gave birth. but how can i know if i have it?

HPV: It would not be typical for a doctor to lie and tell a patient they had HPV or any other STD when they did not have it. Regardless, you can schedule a visit for an examination and pap smear. HPV can manifest as genital warts which the doctor could look for. They can also do a pap smear and see if it is present. HPV resolves in most cases in young women so it could have been there but not now

Look: doctor can look and see blood clots 
heavy bleeding occur with blood clots
and Mother can get anemic

Yes: If you are concerned and this is a new finding definitely get it checked out, could be hernia or another problem.
