Inflammation, infect: Functional bowel disorders may have diarrhea in response to food (or liquid) entering the gut.  They stop if not eating.  Secretory diarrheas can continue without eating.  These can be seen with infections (e.g. Bacterial or viral), inflammation (e.g. Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis), tumors that secrete hormones that cause diarrheas. Risk for dehydration.  Some of these can be serious-see md.

my son has been having diarrhea since thursday, last time he had a bug, the dr. advised us to stop giving him his milk an gave us meds and said we must give him apple juice. everytime he drinks his milk now, he makes poo. he is 1yrs next week.

About diarrhea...: Diarrhea is not normal, so one can look for the usual causes of temporary diarrhea, with temporary meaning it will go away in a few days. Causes may include stomach viruses, contaminated food, medication effects, etc...  When symptoms are prolonged, a doctor can recheck. During healing, a usual plan is SMALL, more frequent, feedings so not to come out as more diarrhea. Juice has too much sugar.

Some natural rx: Applesauce, breads, fresh bananas &amp; rice are natural bulking agents that can slow &amp; firm up poop. If it continues for more than a few days or the kid is acting sickly consider having him seen.

Colitis: You must be examined, preferably by a gastroenterologist, as you could have ulcerative colitis and/or an invasive type of intestinal infection.

should i stop eating citrus fruits since every time i eat them i end up with a diarrhea. i have been eating oranges, pineapples, (ginger+garlic+lemons+honey tea). for 2weeks now my stool is waterly?

: Fruits do cause diarrhea in some people more than others. Fruit contains the sugar, fructose which tends to be a laxative. Fiber and lycopene in fruits also tend to loosen stools.  Again some people eats lots of fruits with no symptoms. Eat smaller portions,avoid eating thick skins on fruit and try to determine which fruits are more problematic for you.

Gethim into hospital: He should be an in patient in the hospital on intravenous antibiotics and IV fluids.  Insist that he is seen by a pediatric infectioius disease specialist.

diarrhea? i've had diarrhea for the last two days. now today, it's like a white-yellow almost discharge, but it's coming from my anus. any ideas what it could be? or how to stop it?

This : This is likely due to a stomach virus/food poisoning. The symptoms usually resolve in about 7-10 days. If you have a high fever, blood or parasites in your stool you should see your doctor sooner. In the meantime maintain adequate hydration and eat a bland diet.

Contact MD: Please have her contact her MD to seek specific advice prior to having the labs returned.  Make sure she is well hydrated.  Simple foods will suffice, as applesauce, rice,
plain baked potato, toast.  Also if she is having blood in her bowel movements, she must notify her physician.  Hope she feels better soon.
