Hard lump under jaw: This could be a lymph node or salivary gland. If it came up quickly then more likely a salivary gland. A boil could be there but would be very tender. If this continues to enlarge then see your doctor.

Possible parotitis: you need to have that lump examined it could be as simple as a stone blocking your parotid gland not allowing the saliva to flow .This happens when the mouth can be too dry or caused by an infection in that gland . It is important to see your primary doctor

painless firm lump directly below ear, directly behind left jaw bone, right in that crease. sometimes when opening mouth or lifting head up it'll move. no other symptoms other than random pains inside ear, but was cleared of ear infection months ago?

Blocked gland?: A sebaceous cyst is a collection of oily fluid that occurs when an oil gland is blocked.  Some folks are more prone to them than other and they often appear on the neck, shoulders, and back.  Try to avoid skin products that are oily.  I would also stay away from transfats and bad oils, which is good for overall health. Doc can diagnose and if that's the case, remove it.  Peace and good health.

Not necessarily so: Lymph glands are located very prominently under the jaw in the neck, and fight infections of the upper respiratory system.  Swollen lymph glands are usually a result of an acute infectious process, not cancer.  Visit your doctor.  Only he/she can determine the difference, and decide if further testing of the lymph glands are necessary.

Yes: Get checked.  It could be infection but it could be something more serious like a tumor.  If there is a mass that persists a few weeks with no symptoms and for no reason, it may need a scan and/or a biopsy.  This is especially the case if there is a history of smoking and drinking or skin cancers for this part of the body.

Please : Please go to your dentist or physician today!  an infection in the head and neck area is very serious!  if you do not have a dentist or physician seek attention at an emergency room at your local hospital.  If you cannot afford treatment, go to the nearest free clinic in your area.

i have extremely itchy ears, that spread to neck & face. i have a swollen gland/lump beside the jaw bone (right under my earlobe). what can this be?

Possible allergy: If you wear earrings and have this rash you may be allergic to the nickel in the earrings. See a dermatologist or your general doctor who can prescribe a cortisone cream and stop wearing the earrings till the rash has gone away. You may want to go have patch testing done at a dermatologist office to see if you are allergic to nickel. There are earrings made of titanium is rare to be allergic to.

See Oral Surgeon: There are some other rather benign tumor might show normal sign on ct or x-rays. Of course, if it is swollen salivary gland, then it must has a reason that cause it. Please consult an oral surgeon for further evaluation.

Pop under skin: This is likely nothing to worry about. You probably were feeling a pop from the skin and underlying tissue rubbing against each other but this is nothing dangerous.

hard lump under jaw left side of neck. been for scans. biopsy and lymph node removed 3 weeks ago. lump still there and more painful, what could it be?

Wait for report: Wait for biopsy report  , if it is benign, it is post operative reaction   and  will subside in couple of wks , speak to your surgeon  if any treatment(s)  are required based on the report.
