Perhaps: Low back stenosis can be entirely silent  (no symptoms). When it does cause leg symptoms, it varies in how people describe it. I have heard people complain of pain, heaviness, tiredness, weakness, tingling, numbness. The pain can be sharp, dull, aching, burning, cramping. Usually it occurs with walking, sometimes with standing. It usually feels better with sitting, leaning forward, like on a table.

Skeletal and muscle malfunction while walking can cause many muscles to over work and produce high amounts of lactic acid. Once you stop to rest/go to bed, the lactic muscles trigger the cramping. See a podiatrist for orthoses eval.

she was tested about 6 months ago for deficiencies that could cause cramps, but no issues were found.

Leg/foot cramps : It may be time to look at two systems, neurological -specifically low back nerves, and the circulatory system.  It's best to ask your doctor if this is something to be tested, a good physical examination may have the answer to these concerns in many cases without the advanced testing.

Cramps : Cramps are very difficult to figure out. Sometimes there are reduced levels of calcium, magnesium or other electrolytes in your blood. Your doctor can test for these problems but finding the cause in blood tests is unusual.

It would be any easy thing to try taking some calcium and magnesium supplement from your neighborhood drug store for a week to see if this helps. If not, try taking a couple ounces of tonic water before bed. Tonic water has small amount of quinine in it. While large amounts of quinine can have side effects, the risk is very low at small doses.

Feel better: Cramping tends to occur with dehydration so hydration should be the first step, water or sports drink.  I've treated a lot of construction workers and usually they have sore feet and ankles, and i recommend cool baths to decrease swelling and inflammation.

had a bilateral mastectomy weeks ago. i sleep on my back and get leg and foot cramps. tylenol (acetaminophen) or advil haven't helped. other options?

I would look for the: Cause as opposed to trying to mask the discomfort. Magnesium deficiency is a possibility. You can try supplementing or actually get blood levels. When taking blood levels it would be prudent to get magnesium levels in the red blood cells and not just magnesium levels.
