does memory loss after waking up from seizure come back?

Accepted Answer

Yes and no...: There are many types of seizures. Seizures known as "partial complex" may not lead to loss of consciousness, but may cause memory troubles--like writing on the blackboard with your right hand while erasing the thought with the left. Seizures with loss of consciousness usually causes confusion upon arousal; the memory loss may be tied into having partial complex ones before the actual big one.

if i've had a partial complex seizure twice in one day and don't have them again. will it ever come back? not diagnosed with seizure disorder. i know i've had two before and had seizures in the past, but never been diagnosed. will it get worse?

: If you have previously experienced TRUE epileptic events, odds are at least 60% of having future events.  It is very worthwhile  to see a neurologist who focuses in area of seizures and epilepsy, and sort out what is really occurring, as treatment of non epileptic seizures is very different.  This does affect your activities, especially driving.

my son had neonatal seizures and was put on medicine, but after a few months they stopped. now he is 5 and is having what we think are absence seizures(waiting for eeg results to come back). could these be related to him having neonatal seizures?

Different: Although they both involve the brain they are usually different in their origin/pattern and eventual treatments. Absence can be confirmed by EEG with a typical pattern.

after sudden 1st seizure, is it possible to get another seizure after your eeg and brain scan come back clean?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it is possible: A person who has epilepsy or recurrent seizures can have a normal inter-ictal (between seizures) EEG.  Prolonged EEG monitoring or sleep deprived EEG may provide more information.

does a normal eeg mean you don't have epilepsy? all my eegs have come back normal however i still experience multiple tonic clonic and absent seizures

Accepted Answer

No: The EEG recording is a measure of your brain activity during the recording. If a seizure occurred during the recording most likely this would be seen. Some events are not electrographic and not seen.

Your neurologist probably has had prolonged EEGs that hopefully recorded your absence or GTC events.

If unsure see an epilepsy specialist.

i keep on having seizures ,nocturnal and mostly cluster seizures my seizures happen for 3 days nonstop then disappear then they come back plus ive been having severe headaches and chest pains but my blood tests and mri are clear what does it mean?

: It means you and your Dr have not gotten to a medication.life style plan that is controlling your seizures.   Your brain is talking to you  with these seizures. Listen and take good notes then share with your Dr. Be certain you are taking meds as prescribed. Getting them controlled is a try and see experiment in you.  Everyone is different. Share all of this with your Dr.

More details?: You had a single seizure at age 17 yrs.? No recurrences since then? Please explain what is concerning you, after so much time has passed. Was a cause for your one seizure ever identified?

i have epilepsy but have been symptom free for 13 years but i'm starting to notice my old non seizure symptoms coming back. should i be concerned?

Hard to say: Likely, you will be seizure free in the future as many of the childhood epilepsies tend to remit as one grows older.  But in some cases, evolving problems may re-present.  Suggest you see a neurologist and maybe get an updated eeg, just to be safe.

can phlebitis in the arm caused by i.v.s come back?

Yes: The vein is inflamed and damaged. They can reoccur but more typically wax and wane. Treated is usually with warm or cold compresses, anti- inflammatory medications, and time. If not improving after several days - see your doctor.

what causes bv and why do it come back?

Accepted Answer

Bacterial vaginosis: ...is very common, often very frustrating. The cause(s) of bacterial overgrowth aren't known. BV is associated with sex, but doesn't appear to be an STD except in lesbians. It's also not known why BV often persists or recurs. Talk to doctor about periodic treatment to stay ahead of it. Also try consistent condom use. If female partners, try to avoid sharing vaginal fluids. Sorry no better answers.
