Fatty Foods.: Not normal to have orange oily fat in stools.  Body usually absorbs 100% of fats consumed.  There is something wrong, either medications like 'orlistat' or Alli, or deficiencies of enzymes are causing this.  Sometimes a parasitic infection can cause this.  See your doctor about it.

Bowel problems: I would worry about problems like malabsorption, or Celiac disease or even a problem with her pancreas. Has she lost weight?? I would recommend having her referred to a pediatric gastroenterologist and having a colonoscopy or at least a sigmoidoscopy to see what's going on, take some biopsies and hopefully find an answer. Many possibilities: The most common causes of continuous cycle or irregular menses would be dysfunctional uterine bleeding and/or anovulatory cycles.  If this just started then fibroids (benign tumors in uterus) can be the cause.  Overgrowth of uterine lining ( benign or cancerous) can cause irreg bleeding as well. This is less likely at age 31.  Ultrasound can be done to evaluate. And labs to look for other causes.

Hormones...: Normal menstruation is initiated by a drop in your body's progesterone hormone level.  The lining of the uterus loses is hormonal support and is shed from the uterus.  Its painful because the shedding process releases inflammation hormones such as prostaglandins.  The uterus also contracts to get blood and clots out of the uterus and this causes labor-like pain. Many causes.: Not ovulating during every cycle can cause irregular periods. This is is common in teens as their systems mature, but may also occur in adults. Excessive exercise, stress & eating disorders can also throw periods off, as well as polycystic ovarian syndrome, ovarian or adrenal tumors, thyroid dysfunction, or too much prolactin. Spotting between periods is commonly caused by infection.

: Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time. You may consider implanted contraceptive or an IUD.

Hormonal ?: Spotting can sometimes occur pre- ovulation due to hormonal changes affecting the endometrium( inside lining of the uterus).  If it occurs at other times of your cycle, then it could be due to polyps, fibroids, pregnancy or cancer. Please see your doctor.
