Mottled skin : It may be cutis marmorata . A non serious condition characterized by purple and white blotch legs. There are not itchy or painful.  A doctor should evaluate to make sure there is no underlying circulation issues.

Could be anything: A red patch could be anything.  The presence or absence of itch is not a helpful characteristic.  Since it is new, and persistant yould should see your doctor to get it looked at, as well as look for other areas where it may be present so it can be properly chategorized.

Edema: Compression stockings, especially over 20 compression strength, can cause edema fluid to pool above the knee high level and form in the thigh. The cause of your prior ankle or foot edema could be vein weakness or fluid retention from hormones. Cardiac, kidney,liver causes or low blood albumin levels would be more serious issues. See your MD as needed.

Possibilities include anxiety or reaction to certain substances,spices,supplements,hormonal swings or medications. The vitamin Niacin, is a cause. Some people react to certain wines,for example. Try to think of any possible trigger. Eliminate spices,etc. If no results, your MD will investigate

Cause of red spots: it is most important to know whether these spots blanche (disappear) after you push on them, which may be viral or allergic.  If they do not blanche, capillary bleeding has occurred, either from a tourniquet effect of very tight socks or hose, or from capillary fragility, and you must see your PCP to find the  cause, such as a rare condition called Henoch-Schoenlein purpura.

could a fall on a steel beam cause or start the process for spinal stenosis. i fell back onto a leg of a car lift and hit my whole back and head.

Fall: This typically does not cause stenosis unless its a herniated disc that is causing the stenosis.
