CTL Over wear: Sleeping in contact lenses that are not designed for this will potentially result in significant ocular surface irritation, possible infection, scaring, pain, and loss of vision. First thing you shoul do is remove the contacts, use gentle artificial tears like refresh tears. If you have significant discomfort, photosensitivity, or decreased vision after discontinuing the contacts, u should see doc.

Conjunctivitis: Mucopurulent conjunctivitis, commonly known as pink eye, is a bacterial infection of the eyes that can cause green/yellowish/crusting drainage, redness, irritation and mattering.  Treatment would include evaluation by a doctor and possible topical antibiotic drops in the eyes.  All the best!

When to see peds: Fevers, coughs or colored nasal/eye drainage that persist for more than a few days is suggestive of infection which requires medical evaluation and treatment.

Conjuctivitis: Usually, bacterial infections of the nasal cavity will involve the conjunctival membranes of the eyes/ lids and result in a purulent discharge. Topical antibiotics, irrigations, ointments can be advised by your local ophthalmologist.

Pink eye: Otherwise know as conjuntivitis, is usually due to a viral infection, such as a cold.  Cool, moist compresses will help you clean off her eyes and soothe them some.  If she gets worse, she needs to see her dr for drops because it can be caused by a bacterial infection.

Usually tear ducts: There can be many causes for tearing and mucus in a baby's eyes.  If those are the only symptoms/signs then a common cause are tear ducts that have not fully opened to allow drainage.  Usually we recommend massage of the tear ducts and observation.  If a conjunctivitis develops then the patient may require antibiotic drops or ointment.  Your pediatrician should be able to examine and advise you.

Infection: But more likely a viral one (pink eye?) which may be contagious.  If problem persists for more than 7 days or gets worse, see eye doctor. In the meanwhile , try artificial tear drop to see if this may soothe your symptoms.

Dry eyes: Your eyes try to heal dryness damage while you sleep. 
Use artificial tear drops in the evening and before bed.
Not all drops are created equal. Talk to your ophthalmologist. Avoid benzalkonium chloride preservative! your pharmacist might help.
